Fishing Report: Before being turned into a reservoir in 1978, Grizzly Swamp lake was considered to be an excellent lake for large Rainbow trout. Following years showed a decline in this fishery and in 1987 the lake was completely drained down and all fish died. In 1988 Rainbow stocking resumed and by 1992 good numbers of Rainbows, up to 45 cm. (18 in.) were reported. Stocking was then cut back to 5000 Pennask/Beaver Rainbows per year so trout size would increase and once again become an excellent fishery for large Rainbows.

Specs Lakes - Specs Lakes are 3 small lakes found just east of the northen end of Grizzly Swamp Lake. Excellent fly fishing for good quantities of smaller Rainbows, although Specs #2 (the middle lake) has reported catches of trout in the 2-3 lb. range. A rough access road is provided to Specs #3, the northernmost lake in the chain. A 6 vehicle BCFS campsite with rough cartop boat launching can also be found at the lake. Ideal Lake is 146 ha. (361 ac.) in size and can be accessed by following the road leading south from Specs Lakes. Ideal is considered an excellent family lake providing fishermen with good quantities of smaller Rainbows. A large 30 vehicle BCFS campsite with cartop boat launching is available at the lake.

Note: Always check your current BC Fishing regulations before you start fishing a new lake.
